Outlander #1

Outlander (Outlander, #1) Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this book. It begins in 1945 with Claire and Frank taking a vacation in Scotland after both were in the war for six years. Through no fault of her own, Claire ends up transported to the 1700's and has to learn how to get by. She ends up finding herself in a position of having to marry for protection, and that's where it gets good.

I started out reading the book and got to page 120 before I had to return it to the library since someone had placed a hold on it. It had really gotten my attention and I wanted to finish the book but it would be about two months before I got it back (as I was 4th in the holds line). I decided to borrow the audio cd version of the book and boy, am I glad I did! The narrator, Geraldine James, was brillant with her accents, switching between the British (Claire) and the Scottish (Jamie). It made for a very entertaining experience and I can't wait for the next book which is narrated by the same woman.
