The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
It took a little bit for me to get into the book but once Vida Winter started telling her story, I was hooked. I enjoy a good ghost story and this was a really good one. I guess what makes ghosts stories great are the amount of mystery which is involved.
The main undertone of the whole book was about twins or siblings and their connection to one another. The main characters in Vida Winter's story was Emmeline and Adeline, The Angelfield twins. I found them to be very interesting but a bit curious, as they were both a little "off".
As the story progressed, I did figure out part of the ending but my hypothesis was wrong and the author explained it in a totally different way than I could have possibly imagined it. Also, the twists she threw in were great, always keeping your mind from going to sleep. I loved it.
I would definitely recommend this book. My book club read it for our Halloween book club meeting and it was very fitting.

New Moon... here I come!
So my husband and I agreed that I should go watch the New Moon movie with friends and I'm so excited! It will be two days after my birthday and such a nice gift. I really enjoyed reading the saga and watching the first movie so this will be really fun.
Here's a little preview for you:

Remember the Sweet Things
Remember the Sweet Things: One List, Two Lives, and Twenty Years of Marriage by Ellen Greene
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Wow... what a wonderful testament to love late in life as well as a great long love letter to Marsh. I'm a memoir junkie anyways and always love a good romance story, but this was truly wonderful. I enjoyed reading about the good and the bad times but how, as a couple, they were able to keep things together. And such a great guy! The things that man did for his wife in order to be a great husband the second time around just astonished me. He was a great man with a great sense of humor. I found myself laughing at the quirky little remarks he made and then crying just a few pages later. Ellen did a wonderful job of capturing her husband in a good light and it was a pleasure to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Blog... I'm sorry... I've slipped
I have been so busy this month that I haven't even gotten a chance to keep you up to date on the latest fun things that our family has done. Not to worry, I hopefully will be getting caught up here soon so you will have tons to read and see. It's as if I blinked and October flew by. This time of year is always hard for me to blog as there is so much going on and with each passing holiday, (Halloween, my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's) it seems to get busier and busier. But I feel that I've neglected you Blog, so I will do my best to update you this month on what has been going on in our lives. Sorry for the slip up, but of course, I'm sure it will happen again all too soon. :-)
