This year, for Danny's birthday party, he wanted it pirate themed. He got the idea when looking through an Oriental Trading magazine back in March. Once Danny has made up his mind on something, it's pretty hard to get him to change it. So on September 11, 2009 at 6pm, a pirate birthday is what we had.
We had so much fun and Danny was super excited to have all his friends there. We started out by having each guest put their name on a coin and dropping it into the treasure chest. Then, each guest was handed a pirate hat, pirate bandana and pirate eye patch. Once everyone was there, we started on the food and followed that with the cake. Then, it was time for the piñata and the kids went nuts! We had them line up, gave them gender appropriate bags and tried to go from youngest (smallest) to oldest (largest)in breaking the treasure chest piñata. Once we got all the way through the line, Danny went again a few times and it still wasn't breaking so I stepped in and ripped it enough for the candy to fall out. There was candy EVERYWHERE and kids were all over the floor! It was fun to watch.
After everyone was done picking up candy, we handed out "treasure" goodie bags and did a drawing for the "secret prize" which was a light spinner toy. The winner of the drawing was our friend Zachary. Then, we handed everyone their coin with their name and those who wanted to, stayed to watch presents being opened while the others said their good-byes and were free to go. It worked out really well, especially for the amount of people we had.
Danny couldn't have asked for a better birthday party and was so happy. Thanks to everyone for making it AWESOME! Happy 6th Birthday Danny!
